Coaching Requirements/Restrictions

Last Revised on June 06, 2018

Coaches (head and assistant) in the CYM program are encouraged to:

It is strongly recommended that all teams (when not required) have at least one individual certified in CPR present at all practices and games. The individual may be a parent, coach or parish volunteer and the certification should be current and should have been completed by an accredited institution (i.e., Red Cross, American Heart Association).

Electronic Communication with Athletes - Direct one-on-one communications with minors via telephone, cell phone, text messaging, email, social networking or other electronic means without written permission of a parent or guardian is strictly prohibited as per Diocese of Wilmington's TECHNOLOGY IN MINISTRY document.  Since the CYM Online Registration system allows parents to give such consent, utilizes the approved delivery system for such messages, and maintains a record of the electronic communication, the CYM Online Registration system must be utilized to communicate with athletes.
