Trained and Effective Adult Youth Ministry Leaders and Catechesists

Adults responsible for the faith formation of youth must receive the training and preparation that is necessary for them to serve as effective mentors, guides and teachers of the faith.

The following minimum competencies are fundamental to any adult leader serving in youth/catechetical ministries:

Diocesan programs of training and certification are indispensable resources for those who bear the responsibility for coordinating programs of youth ministry and/or catechesis.  (For more information on these opportunities, contact Catholic Youth Ministry or Religious Education).

Related Policies:

Adults who serve as catechists within specific Adolescent Catechesis programs (i.e., an eighth grade catechist, a Bible Study leader, etc.) must be actively involved in the Diocesan Catechetical Formation Process. 459
